Manor Grange Nurse Wins Award at the Scottish Care Awards

Maya Winning Award at Scottish Care Awards

We are pleased to announce that one of our Nurses here at Manor Grange, Maya, has recently won the Emerging Talent Award at this year's Scottish Care Awards. The Scottish Care Awards is an awards ceremony celebrating the best independent care homes in Scotland. This is a major accomplishment and we couldn't be prouder of Maya and the team who has supported her throughout her time at Manor Grange.

Emerging Talent Award

Maya started her journey as a Bank Nurse here before becoming a full-time member of the team as a Charge Nurse. Maya is a tireless advocate for our residents, their families and our staff. Maya can grasp a wide range of responsibilities and changing priorities and maintains an upbeat and positive attitude that inspires the team and our residents.

Maya has provided extra support during the pandemic and demonstrates fantastic leadership qualities. Maya represents the principles and values of what care is, and her humility, positivity and energy are infectious.

After winning the Emerging Talent Award, Maya said "It's lovely to be recognised and I am so honoured to have won. The pandemic has been never ending an exhausting professionally, and personally. But the team at Manor Grange really came together and supported one another."

Maya

Deputy Manager Lesley nominated Maya as she had "overcome her own personal challenges, and during that period she used her time to develop documentation to support families during palliative care and bereavement. She demonstrated great resilience, which was admirable."

Maya is an enthusiastic individual who pays great attention to detail and is very eager to learn and develop further with her career. Maya is interested in quality improvement for care homes and can see herself working her way up to a role in that field.

When asked what inspired Maya to become a Nurse, she said " Growing up, the house we lived in was attached to the doctors surgery where my dad worked as the GP. So I was always around that healthcare environment and found it incredibly interesting."
